Nursery

Our nursery forms part of our early years provision for children aged 3 to 5.
At Lake View Primary School, we aim to give your child the best possible start to their school education.  With spacious outdoor play areas, a well-resourced indoor learning environment and highly skilled staff, children are given the opportunity to learn through play and enjoyable adult-led activities.
We firmly believe that we can offer all our pupils the best start to school life.
When the school was inspected in March 2019 the inspectors commented that:

  • 'The teaching of phonics (the sounds that letters make) is effective and appropriately challenging.'
  • ‘Teachers and adults are enthusiastic.  They use questioning skills well to develop children's thinking and support their development and independence.'
  • ‘Children have positive attitudes to their learning.  They collaborate and are respectful of each other.'
  • ‘Activities are often creative and engaging.'

Visits to our school are more than welcome - please contact us on 01623 401404 to arrange an appointment.

At Lake View Primary School we are able to offer your child 15 hours a week of free early years education (five mornings and one afternoon OR five afternoons and one morning) OR 30 hours a week provision, beginning in the term after they have turned 3.

If your child has the 15 hour option, then you can opt to pay for additional sessions. We can also offer lunchtime supervision (£2.50 per day) and extra sessions in our nursery (£7.00 per session).  In total children can therefore attend our nursery full-time (9.00am to 3.30pm) for a total of £40.50 per week, which is fantastic value-for-money!
In addition, children attending nursery can attend Breakfast Club (8.00am to 9.00am) at a cost of £3.00 per day.

Pupils move into our Foundation 2 (Reception) class in the September after they turn 4, at which point full-time schooling becomes free. However, as part of our EYFS unit, children in our Nursery will have access to the Foundation 2 classroom and provision at different points of the day. We have found this approach makes their transition into Reception excellent.

Please contact the school office to receive a copy of our Foundation Stage 1 welcome booklet which will also give you further information.
